Optimizes Cellulose Conversion
Performance Plants has an aggressive program discovering genes involved in improving the characteristics of plant biomass for industrial uses like cellulosic ethanol, fast pyrolysis and bioproducts. Our primary interest is developing biomass crops for the optimum conversion of cellulose into ethanol or other biofuels. Increasing ethanol convertibility will significantly reduce production costs to help make cellulosic ethanol an economically competitive alternative to grain ethanol or petroleum.
