Plant Molecular Biology Technician
Position Available Immediately
A permanent plant molecular biology technician position is available in the Crop Development Program at the Performance Plants Inc. Saskatoon research facility. Primary duties are DNA and RNA extraction and analysis. The position may also include plant tissue culture, general laboratory, and greenhouse duties as required. Applicants must have experience in plant molecular biology. The candidate will be versatile, detail-oriented, well-organized, enthusiastic, team-oriented and able to appreciate goal-based research. Applicants should hold an appropriate technical diploma or B.Sc. degree.

Performance Plants Inc., a major plant biotechnology company with operations in Canada and the United States is seeking a Manager, Crop Line Advancement in its Crop Trait Assessment group in Saskatoon. The candidate we are seeking will be responsible for coordinating the advancement of transgenic plants through molecular and phenotypic selection. They will also be responsible for the design, execution and statistical analysis of field experiments designed to validate traits of interest. A Ph.D. or M.Sc. in plant breeding (canola preferred) or agronomy and several years of relevant applied plant science experience, including field experimentation, are required. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, have excellent written and oral communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities and will thrive in a goal-based R&D environment.

Performance Plants Inc. is a major Canadian plant biotechnology company whose mission is to develop technologies that will enhance production of food, feed and biofuel crops. A Plant Scientist/Crop Physiologist technician position is available immediately in the Crop Trait Assessment group in Saskatoon. The incumbent will work with other plant scientists to study the performance of genetically modified plants in greenhouse and field environments.
Primary responsibilities will include planning and execution of experiments, data collection and analysis, and preparation of reports. Hands-on experience growing crop plants is essential, and experience in plant breeding (canola), experimental design and statistical analysis is preferred. In addition, the ideal candidate will be a good team player, detail-oriented, have excellent written and oral communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities and will thrive in a goal-based R&D environment. This position will require a substantial amount of weekend work, preferably working Thursday-Monday.
