Performance Plants Inc. (PPI) is a global leader in developing agricultural and bioenergy biotechnology products. We are a pre-eminent plant trait company.

What does that mean? In simple terms, we have the expertise to boost the effectiveness of key plant genes that make crops achieve greater yields and higher quality. In practical terms, PPI is developing the next generation of high value agricultural traits and non-food biomass crops.

To date, we have patented and produced crop plants that have greater tolerance to the environmental stresses such as drought and heat. We have plants that need less water to grow. As a result, we have produced food and non-food plants that have either greater seed yield for enhanced food production or increased cellulosic biomass yield for biofuel, the clean energy alternative.

We field test all our crops to ensure our technologies work in real life not just in a lab. 

This technology will have a huge impact in helping farmers, industrial producers and biofuel users feed and fuel the world in the years to come. The importance of these next generation agricultural solutions will only increase over time as the global population is predicted to reach 9 billion by mid-century in the midst of increased environmental stresses.

As a leader of the “gene revolution”, PPI is pleased that we are the first biotech company to grant the humanitarian use of its Yield Protection Technology® (YPT®) in partnership with Africa Harvest Biotech Foundation International.This privately held company has Headquarters in Kingston, Ontario and operates a state-of-the-art Trait Development centre from the same location.
