About Performance Plants Inc.

Established in 1995, Performance Plants Inc. is a global leader in agricultural and biofuel biotechnology. Headquartered in Kingston, Ontario, Canada with research facilities in Kingston and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, the company has developed and holds global patents for gene trait technologies that weatherproof crops through periods of drought and heat. As well, it is developing energy crops that will address the most pressing challenges faced by the emerging cellulosic ethanol industry: consistent supply of high quality, cost-competitive feedstocks that meet greenhouse gas reduction mandates in North America and globally.

The company's biomass crops address these issues as they are high-yielding and weatherproof which leads to the sustainable growth of biofuel crops on marginal land.

Recently, the company signed an agreement with the Africa Harvest Biotech Foundation International which enables Africa Harvest to use the company's Yield Protection TechnologyYield Protection TechnologyYield Protection Technology™reg;reg; (YPTTreg;reg;reg;reg;) in a multi-year project to develop and field test drought-tolerant white maize, a staple crop in Africa. This is the first time a Canadian company's agricultural biotech intellectual property is being transferred to Africa for non-commercial purposes. Africa Harvest is an international non-profit foundation with a global focus to fight poverty, hunger and malnutrition in Africa.

The company is privately held and is governed by an eight-member Board of Directors.
