New CSO Appointed for Performance Plants

Kingston, ON — January 3, 2011 — The Board of Directors of Performance Plants Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Yafan Huang as President & Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) for Performance Plants Inc. (PPI).

 

Dr. Huang joined Performance Plants in 1998 as Manager of the Technology Development.  He was appointed Director of Research in 2001 and as the Company's VP Research and Chief Scientific Officer in 2004.  

Dr. Huang has recently been appointed President of Performance Plants Inc., and remains the Chief Scientific Officer.  He is responsible for the Company’s overall Science, Technology and Commercial Development.  

Dr. Huang earned his Ph.D. in Biology from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada in plant molecular biology and biochemistry in 1995. He spent two years as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Illinois working in the area of Plant Signal Transduction.  He is also one of the world leaders in the field of Plant Abiotic Stress Tolerance, and is the inventor of most of the Company’s patents and patent applications.

Dr. Huang has authored extensive research papers on Plant Signal Transduction and Stress Tolerance, and presented many keynote seminars and symposia in prestigious research conferences and research institutes around the world.
